The Future
In order to make rough terrain forklifts as functional as possible, many attachments have been designed and made like booms, winches, and rotating fork carriages, to enable the forklift to place materials more precisely. The articulating booms or booms come with 2 different extendible arms and are able to reach up and over structures so as to position loads in the upper or center floors or on interior roof slope settings. New products and attachments are being designed and made all the time and would be available in the future.
A lot of improvements have been made with extra safety features becoming more prevalent. Like for example, load-reach management devices can restrict the forklift's reach automatically, based on the load being handled as opposed to relying on the operator. Pressure sensors are used to be able to determine the load weight. This information is sent to a small electronic memory device that had all the load-reach limitations pre-programmed into it.
When the load is being placed into position, the memory would compare the boom's extension and the boom's angle with the safety limits. There is an essential lock-up device or a warning system which prevents the operator from over-reaching and possibly causing the forklift to tip over or the boom to fail.
